In August 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year, the price index of hotels in Georgia decreased by 5.1%.
According to PMC research center, the decrease in hotel prices was caused by a significant decrease in prices (-12.6%) in Tbilisi. At the same time, compared to July 2023, the index increased slightly by 1.3%, and a higher increase (5.5%) was recorded for the prices of family hotels.
"Since the beginning of 2023, the annual price index of hotels in Georgia has experienced noticeable fluctuations. The index decreased significantly in the summer months of 2023. The decrease was mainly due to the decrease in the prices of family hotels.
In the summer months of this year, the annual hotel price index in Adjara reached 16% in June, followed by a decrease in July (-2.8%) and August (-0.2%). This may be due in part to the relatively low demand for beachfront hotels.
In the summer months of 2023, the annual price index in Tbilisi is negative (on average -11%). This may be due to the increased number of accommodation facilities compared to 2019, while the number of foreign visitors has not yet fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels," the PMC Research Center said.
It should be noted that in August 2023, the average price of 3-star hotels in Georgia was 181 GEL, 4-star hotels - 278 GEL, and family-type hotels - 130 GEL.
As for 5-star hotels, the average price in August was 542 GEL. In hotels of this type in Guria region, the average price of a standard double room was 1,055 GEL, in Adjara - 515 GEL, in Tbilisi - 515 GEL, and in Kakheti - 837 GEL.
