
In 7 months of 2022, power stations in Georgia generated a total of 8.4 billion kilowatt hours of energy.
Last year, this figure was 6.8 billion kilowatt hours. Consequently, electricity production in the country increased by 23.6% annually. From this, the total amount of energy generated by thermal plants in January-July 2020 reached 1.5 billion kilowatt hours. In the corresponding period of last year, this indicator was 921 million kilowatt hours.
The production of hydroelectric power stations amounted to almost 7 billion kilowatt hours. Last year, this figure was 5.7 billion kilowatt hours. In 7 months, electricity consumption in the country amounted to 8.4 billion kilowatt hours. Last year, this indicator was almost 8 billion kilowatt hours.
Accordingly, electricity consumption in the country increased by 8%. In this period, electricity import amounted to 2.2 billion kilowatt hours, last year this figure was 1.8 billion. As for exports, during this period, the export figure was defined by almost 1.8 billion kilowatt hours, while last year – by 485 million kilowatt hours.
As for the Gori Wind Power Plant – the only existing one in Georgia - generated 47.6 million kilowatt hours in 7 months of this year. In January-July last year, this figure was 50 million kilowatt hours. Accordingly, the decline in the electricity generation amounted to 4.4%.
