According to official statistics, the value of purchased goods has increased by about 48.5% compared to the value of imports in January-October last year, that is, it has almost doubled, while the import of goods is 965 tons more. This means that coffee has become more expensive in the international market.
Indonesia was Georgia's top trading partner by imports of roasted or unroasted coffee in 10 months of this year.
The top ten coffee import markets by value are as follows:
1. Indonesia - $ 7.7 million, 3 143 tons;
2. Russia - $2.7 million, 506 tons;
3. Germany - $ 2.5 million, 359 tons;
4. Italy - $ 2.4 million, 212 tons;
5. Vietnam - $ 1.7 million, 691 tons;
6. Armenia - $ 962 thousand, 278 tons;
7. Turkey - $ 692 thousand, 91 tons;
8. Uganda - $ 597 thousand, 240 tons;
9. Switzerland - $ 543 thousand, 158 tons;
10. The Netherlands - $ 437 thousand, 72 tons;
It should be noted that in 2022, the export of coffee from Georgia became active and the value of 406 tons of unroasted roasted coffee sold amounted to $ 1.5 million.
The export growth compared to the same period of the previous year is 343.4%. Half of the exports - 160 tons of coffee worth $ 782 thousand were local products, and 246 tons of coffee worth $ 734 thousand were re-exports.
Exports were mainly made to Russia ($ 1.3 million, 382 tons). A small amount of coffee was exported from Georgia to Armenia, Iran, the USA, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Azerbaijan and other countries.
