The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia met with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov within the framework of the international exhibition Green Week held in Berlin.
As the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reported, it was noted at the meeting that there is a great potential for deepening trade relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan.
According to the preliminary data of 2022, agro-food products worth 23.6 million US dollars were exported from Georgia to Uzbekistan. This figure is 119% higher than the 2021 indicator. Last year, the share of Uzbekistan in total agro-food exports was 1.9%. Last year, the share of Uzbekistan in total agro-food exports was 1.9%. At the meeting, Aziz Voitov noted that Uzbekistan was ready to share the knowledge and experience of Georgian specialists in the field of viticulture and winemaking. At the meeting with his Uzbek colleague, Otar Shamugia spoke about the importance of the 8,000-year continuous history of wine production in Georgia.
The issue of food safety was also discussed at the meeting. The parties expressed readiness for deepening cooperation between the countries.
