In January-October, compared to the same period of the previous year, the volume of potato import to Georgia increased almost 6 times, while the export volume decreased 5 times. In particular, according to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), 4,710 tons (1,289 million USD) of potatoes were exported from Georgia in 10 months this year, in the same period of the previous year - 23,301 tons (5,174 million USD).
In addition, as of January-October 2023, Georgia imported 22,550 tons (7,568 million US dollars) of products from other countries, and in 10 months of 2022 - 3,820 tons (2,107 million US dollars).
Based on the same data, it turns out that 1 kg of potatoes imported to Georgia this year cost an average of 33 cents, and 1 kg of the product exported - an average of 27 cents.
