
As a result of Russia's large-scale annexation and attacks, Kazakhstan is increasing its export of sunflower oil against the backdrop of a decrease in the export of oil and not only this product from Ukraine. Nevertheless, Georgia buys only a small amount of oil from Kazakhstan annually.
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, animal and vegetable fats and oils with a record value of 89.6 million US dollars were imported into Georgia in 9 months of this year. Imports have increased by 39.4% compared to the figure ($64.3 million) of the same period of 2021.
The largest importer of sunflower oil in Georgia this year is Russia, from which the import rate is at a historical maximum and amounts to $55.5 million, which is 46.4% more than the indicator ($37.9 million) of the corresponding period of last year.
The list of 10 countries from which the largest amount of animal and vegetable fats and oils are imported into Georgia is as follows:
- Russia - $55.5 million;
- Turkey - $7.7 million;
- Azerbaijan - $7.7 million;
- Ukraine - $4.6 million;
- Malaysia - $3.8 million;
- Poland - $1.95 million;
- Indonesia - $1.7 million;
- Italy - $1.6 million;
- Sweden -$ 823.7 thousand;
- Armenia - $ 662.9 thousand.
