It is noted that the European Union is the largest exporter of pork worldwide, and in 2022 the figure was 4.2 million tons, while in 2023 - it is expected to decrease to 4 million tons, which will be a 5-year minimum.
Last year, 21.7 thousand tons of pork worth of $44.1 million were imported into Georgia, which is a historical maximum. However, the country receives a small amount of products from the European Union.
According to the 2022 data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), the main suppliers of pork for Georgia are:
Brazil - $ 34.2 million;
Canada - $ 3.3 million;
Spain - $ 1.3 million;
Germany - $ 1.1 million;
The Netherlands - $ 815.5 thousand;
The USA - $ 505.6 thousand.
