According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), the import volume of pistachios into Georgia has increased by 70%. In 2023, 3.3 million 1710 tons of fresh or dried shelled pistachios entered the country.
Last year, Georgia's top trading partners by pistachio imports were Turkey and the USA. In addition, American pistachios are about 40% more expensive than Turkish ones.
The full list of pistachio importers is as follows:
Turkey - $1.75 million (1054 tons);
The USA - $1.5 million (634 tons);
Greece - $46,000 (22 tons);
Germany - $3400 (0.14 tons).
As for the pistachio export, it has decreased by 15%, but the export price has increased by 300%. In 2023, 19 tons of pistachios worth up to $162,000 were exported, in 2022, 22 tons of pistachios worth up to $46,000.
In 2023, 19 tons of pistachios worth up to $162,000 were sold entirely to Kazakhstan. Last year 2022, 22 tons of pistachios worth $45,540 were sold to Uzbekistan.
