Import of parrots into Georgia decreased

The import of parrots (including parakeets, macaws and cockatoos) into Georgia has decreased significantly. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in 2022 parrots worth $19.07 thousand were imported into the country, which is 65% lower than the figure of the same period of 2021.
In 2021, the import of parrots worth $55.47 thousand was recorded in Georgia. Parrots were imported to Georgia in 2022 from the Czech Republic and Bahrain.
However, the share of birds imported from the Czech Republic is 99% in the total import (in terms of value).
It is noteworthy that since 2010, the highest number of parrots has been imported into Georgia in 2021.
