Import of electric cars to Georgia is increasing

The import of electric cars to Georgia is increasing. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in 9 months of this year, 1,336 units (37,353 million USD) of electric vehicles were imported to Georgia, in the same period of the previous year - 913 units (20,089 million USD), and in January-September 2021 - 251 units (4,782 million USD).

However, in 2023 52.1% of electric cars were imported from the US, followed by China with 26% and Japan with 6.8%.
The list of the countries from which the most electric cars were imported in 9 months of 2023 is as follows:
The USA - 697 units (15,413 million USD)
China - 356 units (11,107 million USD)
Japan - 91 units (629.2 thousand USD)
Germany - 87 units (6,740 million USD)
The United Arab Emirates - 40 units (1.428 million USD)
It should be noted that on average, the cost of one electric car is 27-28 thousand USD.
