According to MEP Miriam Lexmann, “fence-sitting of Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz harms both the EU and the Georgian people”.

“I’m sorry Bundeskanzler and Emmanuel Macron, but your fence-sitting harms both the EU and the Georgian people. We cannot afford to be lethargic when GD is undermining democracy and Georgian people’s European aspirations!” - Lexmann tweeted.

The remarks come a day after France and Germany expressed deep concern about the situation in Georgia. “Both our countries have always supported Georgia's European path. It has been charted – but speed and direction of moving forward depend on Georgia”, Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz said in a joint statement.
