Hungary blocked the initiative of the European Union to express protest regarding the case of the ex-president president Mikheil Saakashvili.
According to the Ukrainian media, the Polish radio RMF FM reports that Poland came up with an initiative to suspend Mikheil Saakashvili's prison term in order to give him the opportunity to receive treatment abroad. The mentioned proposal should have been included in the diplomatic protest of the European Union, which they were going to express towards official Tbilisi.
Poland's proposal was supported by all EU countries except Hungary. EU diplomats say they are doing all they can to persuade Budapest to change its mind.
The Polish Prime Minister said after the EU summit last week that Poland is ready to receive Saakashvili for treatment.
