As the Georgian Foreign Ministry declared, during the discussion held on the sidelines of the United National General Assembly emergency session on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the officials also reviewed security matters, bilateral cooperation and prospects for closer sectoral cooperation between their countries.

In his address to the Assembly’s 11th session, Darchiashvili reaffirmed his Government’s support for Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion, and pledged to vote for a corresponding resolution.

Georgia was among 141 countries on Thursday to vote for the document, which called on Russia to “immediately, completely and unconditionally” withdraw all of its military forces from Ukrainian territory.

Co-sponsored by over 70 states including Georgia, the resolution also called for a cessation of hostilities as the war in Ukraine entered its second year.
