The Georgian Patriarchate issued a statement, highlighting that "hatred has reached its limit, and there is a clear lack of willingness for bilateral dialogue and discussion" amidst ongoing protest rallies.
The statement expressed concern over the escalation of tensions, noting that the situation had deteriorated to the point where occult rituals were being conducted. In one such incident, protesters burned a coffin inscribed with a figure of the Saviour in front of the Parliament on Rustaveli Avenue.
The Patriarchate condemned these actions as exacerbating societal polarization, describing them as deliberate acts of blasphemy carried out by those responsible for organizing or participating in them. The statement emphasized that the organizers bear the greatest responsibility for such events.
Furthermore, the Patriarchate warned that these acts, along with similar occurrences, serve as a stark reminder of the recent period marked by raids and insults to the Church. The rituals performed near religious sites were characterized as intentional provocations, displaying a profound disrespect toward believers.
