It should be noted that Georgia's top trading partner in terms of honey export according to last year was the European Union. In 2022, 75.5% of honey exports were made in the direction of European countries. It should also be said that the sale of honey in the EU countries increased by 75.3% last year.
According to the value, the TOP-10 honey exporting countries are as follows:
1. France - $556 thousand, 97 tons;
2. Bulgaria - $323 thousand, 112 tons;
3. Norway - $103 thousand, 21 tons;
4. Israel - $61 thousand, 10 tons;
5. The United Arab Emirates - $40 thousand, 5 tons;
6. Saudi Arabia - $23 thousand, 5 tons;
7. Japan - $16 thousand, 1 ton;
8. Hong Kong - $13 thousand, 1 ton;
9. Canada - $10 thousand, 1 ton;
10. Armenia - $9 thousand, 1 ton.
Small amounts of honey were exported to Burkina Faso, Germany, Austria, Senegal and other countries.
During 2022, the rate of honey import in Georgia was low. Last year, Georgia bought 31 tons of honey worth a total of $83 thousand, which is significantly higher than the data of 2021 ($83.5 thousand, 31 tons).
During the reporting period, honey was imported mainly from 5 countries: Russia ($64.7 thousand, 29 tons), France ($11 thousand, 1 ton), New Zealand ($3 thousand), Italy ($2 thousand) and Spain ($2 thousand).
