The head of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara announces the news ahead of 6-7 weeks about the implementation of a large-scale project - an artificial palm-shaped island to be built in Batumi. He said this today, after submitting a report on the government performance, in response to a relevant question from the MPs.
"As for the popular 'Palm-shaped Island', let’s wait for the government and the developer for about 6-7 weeks and we will present the news regarding the construction process," - Rizhvadze answered the deputies.
To be reminded, in late April, Pridon Katamadze, a co-founder of the company "Ambassador Batumi Island” declared that the company had expected to receive a response to the survey of geological and drilling works required for the construction of the palm-shaped artificial island by May 10. At the same time, the company had to reveal the winner of the tender in late May, which would be given 5-6-months to be prepared for the project. The construction works will begin in 7-8 months.
To be informed, the implementation of the largest investment project in Batumi was announced in October 2021. Under the project, it envisages the creation of two artificial peninsulas and one island of ultramodern entertaining and recreational type and the arrangement of infrastructure on them.
The company "Ambassador Batumi Island” will invest $ 100 million in the first phase of the project, which will employ 2,000 people.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed among the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Government of Adjara and the company "Ambassador Batumi Island” at the presentation of the investment project. Under the government's decision, the company will be given the right to build the 'Palm-shaped Island' on 90 hectares of land in Bartskhana and Tamar settlements in the Batumi seaside area.
