On April 8, 2025, the Greek Parliament ratified the Agreement on the Mutual Recognition and Exchange of National Driving Licenses between Georgia and Greece, according to Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agreement was passed by a majority vote and marks another step forward in bilateral cooperation.
With this ratification, Greece becomes the third EU country to sign such an agreement with Georgia.
Georgia’s Ambassador to Greece, Levan Beridze, welcomed the move, emphasizing that it reflects the strong and growing partnership between the two nations.
“Under the agreement, holders of valid driving licenses from either country will be able to exchange them in their country of legal residence without the need for theoretical or practical exams,” Beridze explained. “This will support better integration into local society.”
The agreement was initially signed on September 26, 2024, in Athens and will officially take effect once Georgia receives formal notification of the ratification from the Greek side.
