Government commission being set up to build Georgian cultural center on land handed over to Georgia near Jordan River

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, spoke at a government meeting about the 4,000-square metre plot near the Jordan River, with the location near the baptism site of Jesus Christ, and noted that a Georgian cultural center would be built on the land with the Patriarch's blessing.
"For this purpose, we will create a government commission, start working on the concept, project and then move on to construction. I would like to emphasize the great role of His Holiness in this process. I also thank King Abdullah II of Jordan, His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi and the Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Archbishop of Jordan, Theophilus, and all those involved, especially our Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Zaza Kandelaki, and the Foreign Ministry," – PM said.
According to the Prime Minister, the government asked the representatives of the Patriarchate - Reverend Shio, Reverend Gerasime, Reverend Davit, Reverend Theodore and Archpriest Andria Jaghmaidze - to get involved in the working process.
