The export of gold (unprocessed or semi-processed or in the form of powder) from Georgia has increased by 35.7%. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), 2.24 tons of gold were exported from Georgia in 10 months of 2022, while 1.65 tons - in the same period of 2021.
In January-October of this year, Georgia exported gold worth of $69,234.47 thousand, while worth of $ 53,286.07 thousand - in 10 months of 2021.
The main export market for Georgian gold is Switzerland, because 95% of the total gold is exported to Switzerland. In January-October 2022, 2.12 tons of gold were exported from Georgia to Switzerland. Export markets include Germany, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
During the reporting period, 0.07 tons of gold worth of $ 2,631.78 thousand were exported to Germany, 0.03 tons of precious metal worth of $ 1,156.40 thousand were exported to Turkey. As for the United Arab Emirates, 0.02 tons of gold worth of $ 866.01 thousand were exported from Georgia.
In the last 10 years, the largest amount of gold was imported from Georgia in 2013. In 2013, Georgia exported 4.29 tons of gold. As for imports, in 10 months of 2022, gold worth of $ 11.81 thousand was imported into Georgia, mostly from Russia.
