The Girchi party has officially nominated Iago Khvichia as its candidate for Mayor of Tbilisi in the upcoming local elections scheduled for October 4.

Girchi member Herman Sabo introduced Khvichia, noting that he was selected through the party’s internal primaries. Sabo also announced three nominees for the Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo), while Khvichia, in turn, named Aleksandre Rakviashvili as his pick for vice-mayor.

In the same race, Georgian Dream is fielding incumbent Mayor Kakha Kaladze, while Lelo and the Gakharia–For Georgia party have jointly nominated Irakli Kupradze.
