Giraffes will be brought to the Tbilisi Zoo for the first time. 

"It will be, at least, five giraffes, but the decision on this topic of which country they will be transported from will be announced in September. The arrangement of the necessary infrastructure is nearing its end, the employees have also completed the relevant training course.

"The building, where the giraffes will be housed, is complex, but it should be finished in the near future. In the meantime, we take care of bringing giraffes, because you can't buy them in a store, they have to be born somewhere, reach a certain age, and then the transportation process is difficult and expensive. 

As for the animal itself, Tbilisi Sea Zoo is already a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria, which means that we will have appropriate consultants and well-trained caretakers. For this purpose, they already went through relevant training last year, because giraffes are special animals and it is difficult to communicate with large animals in general, rhinoceroses, behemoths will be with them. They have already been trained in the Netherlands and this process will continue this year. Two of our vet doctors will go to South Africa to better study this process there," - the director of the zoo, Zurab Gurielidze, said.
