
At the ongoing European Judo Championships in Podgorica, Montenegro, reigning world champion Giorgi Sardalashvili (60 kg) delivered a stellar performance to claim the gold medal.
Sardalashvili secured victory in a dramatic final match against Ayub Bliev, who competed under the International Judo Federation (IJF) flag. The Georgian judoka clinched the win with a decisive Yuko in extra time, earning Georgia its first medal of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Georgian delegation faced a tough outing. Vazha Margvelashvili and Temur Nozadze (both 66 kg), along with Julieta Rodonaia (48 kg), were eliminated in the early rounds and left the competition without medals.
