The Giorgi Antsukhelidze Sergeants Academy marked its 22nd anniversary with a special celebration. The event was attended by Major General Zaza Chkhaidze, Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces, Colonel Zurab Khvichia, Commander of Defence Forces Training and Military Education, and Giorgi Gogochuri, Chief Sergeant of the Defence Forces, who congratulated the Academy personnel and wished them continued success in their vital mission.
The family of National Hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze also participated in the ceremony, held in Kojori. During the celebration, military personnel were awarded the Giorgi Antsukhelidze medal for their significant contributions to the Academy’s development.
Before the ceremony, Defence Forces representatives honored fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the memorial dedicated to those who died for Georgia’s territorial integrity.
The Sergeants Academy plays a key role in training personnel with essential command skills for the Georgian Defence Forces. It prepares individuals to lead at various levels, from group leader and platoon commander to brigade sergeant. On November 15, 2013, the Sergeants Training School was renamed in honor of National Hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze and officially established as a training center. Since March 25, 2018, it has held the status of a Sergeants Academy.
