The German Embassy in Georgia has expressed condolences to the family of the victims and the Georgian people following the tragic incident in the village of Saberio.
In honour of the national day of mourning, flags at the embassy are flying at half-mast.
“Today, January 9, the flag at the German Embassy is at half-mast. The unimaginable tragedy in the village of Saberio has deeply shaken us. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and the Georgian people during this difficult time,” the embassy stated.
The Georgian government has declared January 9 a national day of mourning to honour the victims of the fire in Saberio, located in the occupied Gali region. The tragedy claimed the lives of five children.
