Chkhobadze said analysis of water samples showed the pollution resulting from the incident might never reach Georgia's territorial waters, and added the risk of accelerated flow of toxic substances following the disintegration of the dam was also not possible at this stage.
She also noted the country’s National Environmental Agency had strengthened its monitoring of the Black Sea waters, with monitoring of samples from the coast of the Adjara region.
