Goderdzi ski resort in Georgia's mountainous Adjara region has been named the best snow destination in Europe by the travel platform European Best Destinations, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Tuesday.
Standing out among 12 notable locations, Goderdzi holds its own against renowned ski resorts in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria in the list, the body added.
The location is recognised for providing an “unparalleled winter experience” for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. The article says it boasts “reliable snowfall” from late November through mid-April, ensuring a long ski season that attracts winter sports and recreation enthusiasts.
A key highlight of Goderdzi is its “modern infrastructure”, the ranking piece also says, highlighting recent upgrades aimed at improving accessibility, including freshly paved roads and installation of ski lifts.
New additions also include an eight-person gondola and a six-person chairlift, both constructed by Austrian companies, enhancing “comfort and efficiency” for visitors navigating the mountain.
Goderdzi caters to all skill levels with 13 kilometers of pistes and a vertical drop of 690 metres. The resort provides diverse terrain suitable for beginners, families, and expert skiers. Ski lifts operate daily from 10:00 to 17:00, offering ample time to explore the slopes”, the article reads.
Beyond its skiing conditions, the European Best Destinations recognise the “scenic beauty” of the resort.
