
In 2023, compared to the corresponding period last year, the import rate of fresh flowers increased by $1.4 million.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in January-September 2023, flowers worth of $3,661 million were imported to Georgia, while in 9 months of the previous year - worth of $2,178 million.
Simultaneously, almost 29% of the flowers this year was imported from Armenia, followed by Ecuador with 26.4% and the Netherlands with 26.3%.
More specifically, the list of countries from which flowers were imported to Georgia in 9 months of 2023 is as follows:
Armenia - $1.053 million
Ecuador - $969.7 thousand
The Netherlands - $965.7 thousand
Turkey - $310 thousand
Kenya - $242.4 thousand
Azerbaijan - $40.7 thousand
Ethiopia - $39.3 thousand
Iran - $21.6 thousand
India - $7.7 thousand
The United Kingdom - $5.3 thousand
In addition, this year flowers were imported in small quantities from France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Russia.
It should be noted that this year, during the same reporting period, the export of flowers from Georgia amounted to 24.5 thousand US dollars, of which those worth of $23.1 thousand were sent to Ukraine, and worth of $1.3 thousand - to Armenia.
