
According to preliminary data, the earnings from the service export in 2021 amounted to $ 2,546.8 million, which is 61.2% more compared to 2020, while from the service import amounted to - $1 822.8 million and is, therefore, 25.2% higher than the corresponding indicator of the previous year. In 2021, the positive trade balance reached 724.0 mln. USD, which is almost 6 times more than the trade balance of 2020.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), in 2021, travel ranks 1st in the export of services with the revenue of $1 244.9 million, which is 48.9% of the total export. Transport services rank 2nd with the revenue of $822.6 million (32.3% of the total export), while telecommunication, computer and information services rank 3rd $215.9 million (8.5%, respectively).
The largest import of services in 2021 is presented in the form of transport services and the earnings amounted to $1,086.4 million, making up 59.6% of all imports. Travel ranks 2nd with the revenue of $184.1 million (10.1% of imports), while insurance services rank 3rd with the revenue of $119.3 million (6.5% of imports).
In 2021, the share of the ten largest exporting countries in the total service export of Georgia amounted to 61.4%. Georgia’s largest exporting countries are: Turkey (365.5 million US dollars), Azerbaijan (242.1 million US dollars) and Ukraine (206.7 million US dollars).
In 2021, the share of the ten largest import partner countries in the total service import of Georgia amounted to 53.6%. The largest importing countries are: China ($344.7 million), Iran ($121.5 million) and Turkey ($102.3 million).
