In the first 7 months of this year, the export of nitrogen fertilizers from Georgia increased by 236.6%. Consequently, the country received record-$182.6 million in income from the sale of the mentioned goods.
Among the 10 largest export goods of Georgia, nitrogen fertilizers ranked fourth with a share of 5.9% and exceeded the volume of wine and mineral water exports. According to official statistics, it is clear that in January-July 2022, a total of 279,221 tons of nitrogen fertilizers were sold to foreign countries, which is only 0.4% more than the volume of exports recorded in the same period last year. As a result of comparing the value and volume of exports, it can be said that the value of goods in the international market has increased significantly.
As for the export markets, according to the external trade portal of the Georgian National Statistics Office (GEOSTAT), after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, nitrogenous fertilizers were no longer exported to Ukraine, although Ukraine was still among the top-three export goods in January-February. It should be noted that one of the main sales markets during this period is Peru, where nitrogen fertilizers worth of up to $100 million were exported to.
The ranking of the TOP-10 trading partner countries for exports is as follows:
