The First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Romeo Mikautadze, met with the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Rovshan Najaf, within the framework of his working visit to Azerbaijan.
Successful and constantly developing cooperation between the two countries in various sectors of the economy, including energy, was emphasized at the meeting. It was noted that the high-level visits arranged in 2022-23 gave a new impetus to the strategic partnership of the two nations.
The parties noted that joint energy and transport projects not only contributed to the sustainable economic development of both countries, but also significantly strengthened the energy security of the region and Europe. In addition, it was emphasized that the signing of the strategic partnership agreement in the field of green energy between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary in Bucharest in 2022 paved the way for further expansion of cooperation.
The parties also welcomed the successful operation of SOCAR in Georgia and discussed the existing and future opportunities for cooperation in the field of oil, gas and renewable energy.
