The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Romeo Mikautadze, participated in the Balkans and Black Sea Forum, in Athens, the capital of Greece. The main topics of the forum are energy supply, security and environmental protection, as well as discussions on innovation and technology, infrastructure challenges, investment growth needs and the banking industry.
The Deputy Minister made a presentation at the panel held within the forum, which was dedicated to the issues of innovation, technology, financing and investments. Romeo Mikautadze spoke in detail about the challenges and solutions related to energy security in Georgia, as well as the transit potential of the country in terms of both electric energy and hydrocarbon transportation.
The Deputy Minister made a special emphasis on the sustainable and intensive use of renewable energies, as well as the development of new technologies and the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects, especially the Black Sea submarine cable project, which will connect the energy system of Georgia and the South Caucasus with the European Union.
The Balkans and Black Sea Forum is the flagship economic platform and the main summit for leading businesses and politicians aiming to strengthen stability, economic growth and cooperation in the Balkan and Black Sea regions. The slogan of this year's forum is “The Eurasian nexus post 2022: high-stakes arena for security, trade and investments”.
