MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, welcomed the Prime Minister’s initiative to address rising food prices, calling it an issue that requires a prompt and appropriate response.
Gorduladze highlighted the need to investigate why prices in Georgia continue to rise, even though the same products are significantly cheaper in other countries despite higher labor, transportation, and distribution costs there.
“These are essential products that every citizen consumes. It is important to examine whether cartel agreements or other practices are contributing to inflated food prices,” he said.
The MP emphasized that the Prime Minister’s decision shows the government is listening to citizens’ concerns and taking action. He confirmed that a parliamentary commission will be established, with work beginning during the spring session.
