Guram Tushishvili secured a silver medal for Georgia in the men’s over-100kg category at the Judo World Championships, currently underway in Budapest, Hungary.
Tushishvili delivered a strong performance throughout the tournament but narrowly missed gold in a tightly contested final against Inal Tasoev, who competed under a neutral flag.
Georgia concluded the individual events with a total of four medals. Eteri Liparteliani (57kg) captured gold, while Tato Grigalashvili (81kg) and Guram Tushishvili (+100kg) each earned silver. Luka Maisuradze (90kg) added a bronze to the team’s impressive tally.
Looking ahead, the mixed team competition is set for 20 June. Georgia will meet China in the round of 16, with a potential quarter-final showdown against either Hungary or Italy.
