Earlier today, the First Medical Aid brigade arrived at the Criminal Police Department, where former Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia had been summoned for questioning in connection with the events that took place in Tbilisi on October 4. Akhalaia was called to appear as a witness and to provide a voice sample.
According to available reports, Akhalaia began to feel unwell during the proceedings. Medical personnel provided on-site assistance, after which the questioning resumed.
Akhalaia arrived at the police station at approximately 1 p.m.
The investigation follows an October 4 broadcast by Imedi TV, which aired an alleged audio recording of a conversation between Akhalaia and Paata Burchuladze, leader of the Rustaveli Avenue movement. The authenticity of the recording has not been officially confirmed. The dialogue is believed to reference the October 4 events.
