The three-day program of the forum includes the Saperavi Festival, the Georgian wine tasting and a scientific conference. Scientists and wine professionals will participate in the representative conference, which is being held at the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science in Davis.
This year, the agenda of the conference includes such issues as: the Georgian wine in the global economic and market context, the strategy of establishing the Georgian wine in the US market, the marketing potential of the Georgian wine in the US market, a brief overview of the Georgian wine industry, the characteristics of the Georgian wild and cultivated varieties etc.
The Chairman of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla is attending the Georgian Wine Forum.
“Five years ago, the world scientific community recognized that the ancient traces of winemaking were found on the territory of Georgia, from where it spread throughout the world. Today, the Georgian wine is a developed, modern industry. Year by year, the quantity of the exported Georgian wine, the geography of exporting countries and the quality of wine are increasing. The United States of America is a strategic and growing market for the Georgian wine, and the events of a similar scale help to increase the awareness and export potential of the Georgian wine," - Levan Mekhuzla said.
The Georgian Wine Forum is being held in the USA for the fifth time. The first forum was hosted in Washington, D.C., in 2018, and Boston, in 2019, at the base of Harvard University; in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held online; last year, a tasting seminar titled Amber Wine Festival in Boston was held for wine professionals, and in Philadelphia, a tasting of Georgian wine was held for local distributors, importers, restaurant chains and media representatives. The final event of the forum was a conference held at the University of Pennsylvania.
