The Georgian U21 national team will play in Group A at the final stage of the 2023 UEFA European U21 championship along with Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium, the Georgian football federation announced on Tuesday after the draw held in Bucharest.
The procedure involved 16 teams, co-hosts Georgia and Romania, given positions A1 and B1 respectively, the nine qualifying group winners, the best runners-up and the four play-off winners, that were drawn into four groups of four. By the way, Otar Giorgadze, a former employee of the GPB First Channel and the SFF’s press spokesperson, was among the presenters.
Georgia and Romania will host the matches of the final stage of the championship, which is set to run from June 21 to July 8, 2023. The matches of groups A and C, two quarter-finals and a semi-final, as well as the final in Georgia, will be held in the country’s capital Tbilisi, the western city of Kutaisi and the Black Sea city of Batumi.
The national teams of Group C: the Czech Republic, England and Israel will hold their matches in Georgia.
Group stage matches will be hosted at the Dinamo Arena stadium in Tbilisi and the final - at Batumi’s Adjarabet Arena stadium. The Georgian national team will play its first match against Portugal.
