Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, engaged in discussions with his counterparts from Azerbaijan and Turkey regarding regional security challenges and shared priorities. The discussions took place during the ninth annual Trilateral Meeting of the foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, hosted in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.
The meeting focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and fostering deeper ties between the three countries. Special attention was given to the expansion of the existing trilateral format and the development of new mechanisms aimed at further enhancing this collaborative platform.
Minister Samkharadze emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts within international organizations and outlined key areas of cooperation in defense and security among the three nations. The meeting also addressed broader regional collaboration in several sectors, including trade, economy, defense, energy, culture, education, and tourism.
Additionally, the Azerbaijani and Turkish parliamentary committee chairs extended their congratulations to the Georgian delegation on their party’s victory in the October parliamentary elections. Both expressed a commitment to intensifying cooperation between their countries and reaffirmed their support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
These discussions underscore the continued strengthening of trilateral relations, reflecting a shared commitment to regional stability and collaboration across various sectors.
