The Georgian National Statistics Office reported growth in the country’s transportation sectors for Q3 2024. Airlines saw a 45% increase in passengers, with 204,400 travelers and a 2.5-fold surge in freight volume. Airports handled 2.46 million passengers, up 20.6%, and freight through airports rose significantly.
Railway freight dropped by 0.7%, totaling 3.6 million tons, with transit making up the largest share. Passenger numbers on Georgian Railways declined by 8.2%, but passenger turnover increased by 46%.
Georgia’s ports processed 4.23 million tonnes of cargo, a 13.6% rise, with general cargo making up 44.8%. The number of vessels arriving increased, especially specialized carriers and liquid bulk carriers. Domestic seaport passengers fell by 20%.
