Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili claimed an attempted overthrow of the government occurred on October 4 while election results were still pending. Speaking on GPB’s “Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze,” he accused EU figures Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos of ignoring violent actions by a crowd allegedly supported by them.
Papuashvili said the violence was premeditated and encouraged by a September 23 statement from a European Commission spokesperson, which he described as incitement. He criticized the EU's silence and called for an official explanation from both the European Commission and the EU Ambassador to Georgia.
"A terrorist act took place, yet European officials acted as if nothing happened," he said, calling their response hypocritical.
