The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia released information about the meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, with the Charge D'affaires of Ukraine, Andrii Kasianov.
As the Ministry reported, Andrii Kasianov was summoned for an explanation.
Kasianov was asked to clarify his statement regarding the possible evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Georgia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that the First Deputy Minister expressed his concern at the meeting regarding the statement, which is groundless and damages the relations between the two countries.
"At the meeting, the position of official Kyiv was emphasized, which is grateful for the assistance provided by Georgia, which was confirmed once again during the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine with the Georgian ambassador to Ukraine and noted that they do not see any danger for Ukrainian citizens in Georgia.
As it was noted during the meeting with the temporary representative of Ukraine, such baseless statements do not contribute to friendly relations between the two countries. The hope was expressed that the parties will direct their efforts towards the further development of the relationship," - the Ministry stated.
