"The Georgian entrepreneurs are now able to export fish and other sea products to the European Union market after the bloc officially recognized certificates issued by the relevant state agencies of the country.
Another significant step has been taken on the path of European integration. According to the decision released by the European Commission on April 2, 2024, the EU has officially recognized the fishing certificates issued by the relevant state agencies of Georgia”, - the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture said.
It added recognition of the certificates would help Georgia approximate its fishing industry to EU standards, increase competitiveness, boost export potential, and adopt high-standard fishing methods in the country.
The Ministry said several reforms it had implemented over the past few years had led to the recognition.
The body also said it had approved fishing certificates and established accountability measures for violations.
