On May 23, 2025, Georgia commemorates the 100th anniversary of its first radio broadcast. Georgian Radio began operations in 1925, making it one of the earliest radio stations in Europe.
To mark this milestone, the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage officially recognized Georgian Radio as an intangible cultural heritage monument. The station's extensive archive, known as the Gold Fund, preserves invaluable recordings of Georgian culture, including folk songs, poetry, and speeches by notable figures. These recordings serve as a vital part of the nation's cultural legacy. Despite technological advancements, Georgian Radio continues to play a significant role in preserving and promoting the country's cultural heritage.
