
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has offered heartfelt condolences following the death of renowned Georgian film director Eldar Shengelaia, who passed away at the age of 92.
“I offer my deepest sympathies over the death of one of Georgia’s greatest filmmakers, Eldar Shengelaia. My condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and to all of Georgia,” the Prime Minister said in a statement.
He praised Shengelaia’s enduring impact on Georgian cinema and culture, highlighting his iconic films such as An Unusual Exhibition, The Eccentrics, and Blue Mountains.
“Through Eldar Shengelaia, our nation has lost a brilliant director… His beloved and remarkable films will forever resonate with audiences, and his memory will remain in the hearts of our people and in the annals of our country’s history,” Kobakhidze added.
