,,Today marks the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine, a profoundly tragic milestone in the history of our friend and ally," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during today's government meeting.
The Prime Minister expressed hope for a swift return to peace in Ukraine, emphasizing the severe consequences of the ongoing conflict. He highlighted the devastating loss of countless lives, the displacement of nearly ten million Ukrainians, and the occupation of 20% of Ukraine's territory by the Russian Federation. Additionally, he noted the extensive destruction of infrastructure, economy, and energy systems, with Ukraine's foreign debt approaching 100% of its economy.
"We wish peace for our friend country and its people. It is fundamentally important that the ongoing peace process in Ukraine concludes successfully and as quickly as possible. Once again, I express hope that peace will be restored soon in our friend country, Ukraine," the Prime Minister stated.
Kobakhidze also underscored the responsibility of political leaders in preventing conflicts, reflecting on Georgia's own experiences and the importance of safeguarding national interests to avert similar threats.
