During his recent visit to Turkiye, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili highlighted the strong alignment between the two nations on regional peace and political cooperation.
"During meetings in Turkiye, we discussed a wide range of topics, with the central focus being our shared political perspectives—particularly the mutual commitment to a regional peace policy," Kavelashvili stated.
He emphasized the deepening partnership between Georgia and Turkiye, grounded in common values and strategic interests. “Georgia and Turkiye have much in common. Our relations are at one of the highest levels, built on shared perspectives and mutual respect.”
Reflecting on Turkiye’s diplomatic efforts, he noted: “After the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, Turkiye took the initiative in mediating reconciliation efforts. Georgia has also been consistently involved in supporting peace in the Azerbaijan-Armenia process, which is now nearing a positive conclusion. The progress in Turkiye-Armenia relations is also a welcome development.”
Kavelashvili underscored the importance of democratic governance and national sovereignty. “They congratulated me and stressed the importance of a government chosen by the people. We share core values—respect, national interest, and a strong peace policy.”
He also praised Turkiye’s leadership. “President Erdogan is a strong leader who firmly defends his country's interests. This is exactly where Georgia stands in solidarity—with those who prioritize national strength and regional stability.”
