Medals of Honour were awarded earlier today to Marianna Krayer, Barbara Schellewald, and Cyrill Haring for their contributions to the popularisation of Georgian culture abroad.
Marianna Krayer, who has been a member of the social union “Georgia” in Switzerland for over 30 years, is a co-founder of the Sixth Authorized School in Tbilisi. She supports Georgian artists and organises the festivals of Georgian culture.
Barbara Schellewald, the Emerita of the University of Basel, specialises in medieval arts. She has participated in the scientific expedition to Georgia’s historical region of Tao-Klarjeti.
Cyrill Haring, the Doctor of Jurisprudence, is a founder of painters’ exchange program in Basel. Numerous Georgian artists have participated in the program to this day.
During the ceremony, Zurabishvili discussed the Swiss-Georgian relations and emphasized Switzerland’s role in mediating the Russo-Georgian relations.
