Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent comments at the UN General Assembly, where Zelenskyy expressed concerns about Georgia’s European future.
Kobakhidze reaffirmed that Georgia is the undisputed leader among EU candidate countries, particularly in terms of democracy and human rights, stating that Georgia is ten points ahead of other candidates in both areas.
While acknowledging Zelenskyy’s position as a wartime president, Kobakhidze chose not to engage in polemics, emphasizing that the current situation in Ukraine makes discussions of democracy and human rights particularly complex. He asserted that any criticism of Georgia’s progress in these areas was "fundamentally nonsensical," given Georgia’s leading role in promoting democratic values within the EU candidate nations.
