
The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili met with Beatrice Buffon, French electric utility company EDF’s Vice President in charge of the International Division.
In the meeting at the Government Administration, attention was paid to Georgia’s reliable and favorable business environment.
The country’s potential in the energy sector was discussed. It was noted that, in this regard, Georgia is in an active phase of development. The Prime Minister emphasized concrete steps taken toward the development of the energy sector. The importance of a modern, transparent, and competitive energy market was also underscored.
EDF expressed readiness to invest in Georgia’s renewable energy sphere, mostly HPPs, also taking an interest in wind and solar projects.
Irakli Gharibashvili assured Beatrice Buffon of the Georgian Government’s commitment to cooperating with the French energy company.
The meeting was attended by the French Republic’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia Sheraz Gasri, EDF’s Director for Eurasia Marc Girard, and EDF’s Project Manager Cedric Lavissiere, also by the Georgian side represented by Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili.
