Georgian PM Kobakhidze Calls for Revisions to American FARA to Meet Human Rights Standards

"You are aware of my stance on the American FARA legislation—it is a rather harsh law. I hope that the U.S. FARA will be revised in Parliament to align with human rights standards," stated Georgia's Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, in comments to journalists.
He emphasized that while introducing a direct analogue to the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) in its initial version was a correct step, the bill requires further improvements.
"This approach was certainly the right one. Introducing FARA in its initial form was, of course, correct, but the bill must be refined to comply with human rights standards. Ultimately, this is the responsibility of Parliament," the Prime Minister concluded.
