The Georgian parliamentary elections, scheduled for October 26, were discussed in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and John DiPirro, the Director of the International Republican Institute’s Georgia Programme.
As the Government Administration reported, Kobakhidze pledged his Government would continue to ensure that the elections were conducted in a free, fair, and democratic environment.
The Government head noted a number of international organizations had been invited to observe the elections - through both short-term and long-term missions - in order to maximize the transparency of the electoral process.
The meeting also highlighted the need to reduce domestic political polarization to ensure a calm and healthy environment for voting.
